January 2002 Newletter
Happy New Year and Welcome to the January 2002 newsletter for PlayTime, Inc. - Creating Life Changing Adventures. This is a natural time for reflection and aspirations for many people. While the ritual of setting resolutions and not following them is the norm for most people, I invite you to use this time to turn this process upside-down and find a way for it to inspire you. Did 2001 inspire you, or did 2001 disappoint you, did 2001 get you closer to your goals, or farther away? Now is the time to use what has happened in 2001 to be the springboard for new possibilities and new choices for 2002 and beyond.
2001 was a challenging year in many regards and it definitely stretched many people's leadership skills. From dot-bomb to 9/11, there were many things that did not go well to say the least. Yet, out of those events, I begin to see a greater and greater interest in doing what you love and making a difference before we check out of this place called Earth. I hope you take these challenging events and use them for inspiration to live each day to the fullest.
The first part of the process is to look for all the best moments of 2001. It could be simple moments like dinner with friends, a particular hike, or being with your kids or it could be a huge event like achieving a goal, helping other people, or climbing Rainier. It's so easy to forget all the good moments, remember them now, as many as you can, no matter how big or small.
Looking at this list, look at the patterns, out of all the things you can do and be, look at what you uniquely enjoy...and find out how to create even more of that this year. Now set goals on what you'd like to experience more of, perhaps starting a socially conscious business, spending more time with family and friends, helping out your favorite charity, taking an inspiring vacation, learning a new skill, painting, whatever it is that you love to do, find a way to do more of it. If you have less choices, then also find a way to love the things you must do in your life now. It's not always your choice about what you must do each day, but it is your choice on how you do it.
Now post this list in a place you can see every day, by your computer, your bathroom mirror, whereever you'll see it again and again. You'll be amazed how much this simple little practice will make more of things you want to do happen in your life. Look forward to a new 2002 with even greater opportunity for you now and I look forward to your peak stories of 2002.
