“Native Americans did believe that spirits inhabited the mountain.
They were a superstitious people and respected those spirits and
their powers. One entity they desired as a guardian spirit was the
Thunderbird, whom they believed lived in a cave on Mount Rainier.
Many young Indian braves went to the mountain on spirit quests."
- Bette Filley - The Big Fact Book About Mount Rainier
This
trip begins the day you decide to sign up and climb Mt. Rainier.
The euphoria is matched with an incredible welcome package to introduce
you to the mountain and what you've signed up for. Next, we'll introduce
you to your team: the others who have so boldly chose to join you.
In addition, we will assist you in creating a training program that
will help ensure your odds for summiting Mt. Rainier.
In the coming months, we will support your preparation and learning
with an online moderated discussion list and website. We understand
you are a busy achiever and we take great strides to make sure all
contact is high-signal-to-noise and on a regular schedule that will
support you best. Also, twice a month, join us for a Teleconference
with a world class leader in the field of mountaineering, ultra-marathons,
business strategy, personal development or other engaging topics.
In case you would like to further review, all emails are archived
for easy review and all Teleconferences are available for playback.
You'll
meet World Class leaders in physical and mental preparation such
as Stu Mittleman,
ultra-marathoner who ran 3,200 miles across the country at a pace
of 52 miles/day. You'll learn his secrets of ultra-endurance and
how to create unlimited energy in your everyday life. Stu will personally
join us at the mountain to support & educate you during the climb.
Leading
up to the climb, you will be greeting by our service-oriented staff,
incredible views, wonderful catering and pleasant lodging. Day 1
will use leading edge change technology at the Wellspring Resort
to set huge goals while learning how to build a close, cohesive
team in under 10 hours. By the end of the day, you will feel as
if you know many of these people for a lifetime.
Day 2 is spent on the mountain with RMI's seasoned guides for Climb
School. RMI's ranks include people who have summited the mountain
over 300 times and have guided literally 1000's of people up multiple
mountains. Also, they have the distinction of having the only person
who summited Mt. Everest twice in the same day (he said he forgot
his wallet). During this day, you will be fit with your equipment
and given the chance to learn critical skills that will serve you
on your climb, including pressure breathing, rest stepping, self-arrest
and rope skills. This day is a blast as you slide down the mountain
and learn how to step your descent by digging in with your ice ax.
Peter
Whittaker, owner of Rainier Mountaineering Inc., will be personally
joining and guiding for us on the climb. Peter has over 195
summits of Mt. Rainier and knows how to take care of the widest
range of clients.
Day
3 is the initial climb from Paradise (5,400 ft.) to Camp Muir (10,000
ft.). At Camp Muir, we eat dinner as we make final preparations
for the Summit.
On Day 4, you will attempt the summit. Waking up as early
at 1am, you will don gear and headlights to trek off into the night
to begin your summit attempt. As you wind your way across Ingraham
Flats and up Disappointment Cleaver, you will experience sights
beyond your scope and learn to know more about yourself on the edge
than you can imagine. If conditions permit, by 10 am, you will be
standing on top of Mt. Rainier, 14,410 ft. You can reach the box
that has the registration book and sign your name to the exclusive
club of those who reach the summit. As you climb down, you are greeted
by those mere tourists at the bottom and you will be carted off
to a hot shower and a celebration dinner of tremendous magnitude.
Stories will be shared and special efforts will be rewarded, completing
a well earned adventure to the top.
On Day 5, you be treated to a decadent late brunch, massage and hot tubs
at Wellspring, followed by a day-long reflection session where you
will find greater meaning to your climb on Rainier and make important
plans on what you want to do when you get back from the mountain.
This day is capped off by a celebration party and an evening hot tub
under the stars.
In
the months afterwards, after the peak experiences are over and the
blisters begin to heal, you receive 3 months of personalized coaching
as well as more Teleconference calls to help seal and reveal the
learning of your adventure. The follow up guarantees your learning and
growth continues beyond the mountain. Most importantly, we help you
apply your experience to your life to make it better in the long
term. Effective follow up is the key to long term growth, I am committed
to this concept and want to make sure you are served well before,
during and long after the trip.
Finally, your experience will culminate in a Seattle
reunion party where you will rejoin with your other
teammates and truly discover how much has changed since your beginning and
you'll discover the true products of this trip: friendships that
will last a life time and personal ability to make any thing you
think of reality.
